Everything you experience is your own calling.你所经历的一切,都是自己感召而来的
Unexpected events can happen, and people are subject to sudden blessings and misfortunes. Life isn't always smooth sailing, nor is it always full of ups and downs. Therefore, avoid complacency in good times, and avoid blaming others in bad times. We should understand that all the good and bad in life, life spans, and ups and downs, stem from our own intuition, not fate.
The ancients long ago pointed out that everything in life is a manifestation of personal karma. In other words, reality is shaped by ourselves. In other words, all the people and events we experience are attracted by ourselves; nothing happens completely randomly or by chance. Even those events that seem unexpected or inevitable are not accidental; they are still the result of our own intuition. This principle is not difficult to understand, and is similar to the principles of "resonance" and "birds of a feather flock together" in physics, or the sayings "birds of a feather flock together" and "birds of a feather flock together."
When something attracts us, it's actually the final stage of its manifestation. Prior to this, there must have been a gradual process of development and attraction. People often feel that things happen suddenly, but in reality, they've been laying the groundwork for an unnoticed moment. Through calm reflection, we can often unravel the entire process and identify the root causes—causes that ultimately can be traced back to ourselves.
For example, many people with serious illnesses have found the root causes of their illnesses through reflection. For example, American psychotherapist Louise Hay's book, The Reconstruction of Life, reveals the psychological patterns underlying illness.
The same is true with feng shui: "A blessed place attracts blessings." Those with good fortune naturally live in good feng shui. Those lacking good fortune, yet forcing themselves to occupy good feng shui, are actually defying heaven's will. Just like making money, one must be down-to-earth. The amount of wealth one acquires depends on one's destiny and blessings, the amount of blessings bestowed upon them by heaven. Seeking cheap things will only lead to losses. More wealth, less blessings. A person's family, social environment, and interpersonal relationships are all manifestations of cause and effect. For example, we cannot choose the family we are reborn into; everything is determined by karma. The only way to change is to "refrain from all evil and cultivate all good." When a person's mindset improves, the external environment, and even their aesthetic standards, will change accordingly. For example, the Tang Dynasty valued plumpness, reflecting the elegance of the era; the Qing Dynasty favored thinness, with women sporting slender waists. Even today, many people still consider thinness beautiful, reflecting the decline of virtue.
As merit grows, the environment also changes. Another example is dietary habits: some people cannot live without meat, while others prefer a vegetarian diet. This is also related to karma. The karma of a dog is to eat feces; the karma of a ghost is to spit fire, burning food to ash; the karma of a celestial being is to drink nectar. These differences are all caused by different karma.
For example, sunlight is warm and comfortable for humans, but cold and terrifying for ghosts. Even in the human world, some people fear sunlight—this shows that our perception of the environment is also rooted in karma. The environment is not an absolutely objective existence; it is reflected in the influence of karma.
Some people are easily hurt in relationships, while others remain unfazed. The difference lies in whether one has the karmic potential to hurt others emotionally. If you've never hurt anyone with a knife, you won't be hurt by them; if you've never hurt anyone with words, you won't be plagued by rumors. Ultimately, it all comes down to "avoiding all evil, and practicing all good"—continuously accumulating good karma.
The examples above are all from everyday life. You attract the kind of people and things you are. In modern parlance, this is the "Law of Attraction." It's a simple principle, but people often refuse to acknowledge it. Acknowledging our own faults means taking full responsibility for everything we encounter—something most people don't want to do. We're accustomed to blaming others, society, fate, or chance. How often do we truly reflect on ourselves and identify our own causes? Complaining is easy, but accepting responsibility is difficult. Many people constantly avoid the truth, preferring to lose themselves, believing this way they can evade responsibility. As a result, they never truly control their lives and remain trapped in a cycle of suffering.
In reality, good and bad, gain and loss, are always intertwined. Excessive joy inevitably leads to mental illness; unruly youth leads to a long-term career slump; emotional fluctuations lead to loneliness in old age; excessive emphasis on appearance in a mate can easily lead to unsuitable partners, or even betrayal; blind pursuit of money ultimately harms it; extreme selfishness can lead to the loss of friends and benefactors; and an excessive desire for love can easily lead to heartbreak.
Thus, achieving great success too early is not necessarily a good thing. Success itself is a manifestation of good fortune. If good fortune is exhausted too early and merit is not accumulated, suffering is inevitable. An old acquaintance of mine was lustful and vulgar in his youth, often feasting, gambling, and whoring, spending lavishly. However, within a few years, his family fortune was lost and his factory closed. He was forced to find a new job, but encountered numerous obstacles. Coupled with his poor conduct, he was unable to repay loans, and his life became increasingly impoverished, which was a pity. As we all know, excessive joy leads to sorrow, and when good fortune ends, disaster follows. If you don't build up strength in time, sudden losses can be devastating, even irreparable.
Therefore, truly wise people know how to control their hearts and maintain peace. They are content with what they have, maintain emotional stability, and avoid incurring negative karma. Maintaining composure, remaining calm even in the face of a sudden meltdown—maintaining composure in any situation—is the quality we should cultivate. Constant arguments and debates are irritating, harmful, and offer no benefit. Why bother?
Someone asked me: How can I safely navigate the Tai Sui period? My answer is: Don't panic. Be open-minded, calm, and go with the flow. Control greed and cultivate compassion. How can disaster strike? Even if disaster is inevitable, it can be delayed through good character and good deeds. Burning incense and worshiping the gods is an expression of faith, not a request for blessings. Blessings are not something to be prayed for, but the fruit of accumulating virtue and good deeds. Understanding this principle will help us avoid envy of others' success. The more successful a person is, the more they value accumulating virtue and good deeds. It is naive to imagine that blessings can be achieved without accumulating virtue and good deeds.
A person's suffering and blessings are fixed until any changes are made. Excessive enjoyment and overconsumption during adolescence will inevitably lead to setbacks in adulthood. Overindulgence is truly harmful. Many college students today, having never experienced hardship or education, become completely dependent on their parents for support after graduation. Remember: the more you rely on your parents, the more your blessings are depleted, and the more difficult your future becomes. This is a vicious cycle. Will you continue to overindulge your children? If you don't study hard and don't give back to your parents and society, your wasted time will eventually turn into pain, and you will eventually experience this pain.
